Romance and Dining Out

How often do you treat your significant other to a night out on the town? My guess is not enough! With the hectic nature of our age it's easy to get lost in the busy routine of daily living. Especially in Silicon Valley it's all too common to become overly engaged in your career, leaving precious little time together with your lover. Many relationships fizzle out because that "spark" and spontaneity disappear. Wouldn't you like to go back in time to relive the magic of your first date with your significant other? Don't wait until the next anniversary or birthday to make it a special night, make the magic happen now!

Downtown Mountain View

Every time I get to walk down Castro Street in Mountain View I'm taken away by the beautiful scenery. I've always been more of a city dweller, so the hustle and bustle of daily life here invigorates me. I also enjoy the diverse architecture of the building coupled with the patches of green in the small parks and trees. Taking a walk down Castro Street gives me a chance to clear my head and get ready for the day ahead. One of the pluses of being a public transit commuter.

Spicing Up the Experience

Many chefs will say that the secret ingredient to fine cuisine lies in the spices. In Moroccan cuisine you will find an array of spices and blended flavors that are amongst the most complex of any cuisine in the world. Beautiful bouquets of cinnamon, mint, saffron, cumin, and others caress the pallet to create a tantalizing taste experience. Whether in the briwatts, tagine, coucous, or the variety of appetizers, the spices in the dishes of Morocco's Restaurant take you on a fantastic culinary journey.

Review: Vegetarian Briwatts

For lunch today I had the pleasure of dining at the very restaurant that I intern for! For the appetizer I was served the Vegetarian Briwatts. The phyllo-dough was crisp and flaky, and broke apart with an oh-so-satisfying "crunch" under my fork and knife. The texture did not disappoint. Inside was a mixture of fresh vegetables and a touch of ginger to give it a kick. The filling's flavors were a rich blend of varying levels of savory. My favorite element of this appetizer would have to be the phyllo-dough, which had the perfect texture and slight sweetness to contrast the filling's savory tones.

A Sabbatical from Technology

All too often in the Silicon Valley we're engaged 24 hours a day by technology. Whether it's our computers, tablets, or mobile phones, we're constantly connected to our digital selves. While the advancement in the speed in which information is available is a monumental achievement, the toll it takes on the human mind can be destructive. Every once in a while it's great to take a break from the constant tweeting, commenting, friend requesting, and 15 second video watching to enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

Moroccan Mint Tea Culture

Mint tea has long been a staple of Moroccan culture. Also known as Touareg tea, Moroccan mint tea is prepared with meticulous precision to ensure the proper balance of the mint flavor. A good mint tea should engage and refresh the pallet but not overwhelm it. The burst of mint flavor is the perfect compliment to a Moroccan meal or when relaxing for a casual chat with friends. Moroccan mint tea is traditionally prepared and served to guests by the head of the family and is considered impolite to decline. It is quite a compliments when you hear people asking for refills again and again and calling it the best tea they ever had!

The Art of the Tagine

What do you picture in your mind when you think of Moroccan art? What kinds of paintings, sculptures, or artifacts do you imagine? As I mentioned before, the visual element of fine dining is crucial for a satisfying experience. The artwork at Morocco's Restaurant plays a key role in delivering the full magical experience. One of my favorite pieces is the tagine. No, I'm not talking about the food itself (which is also visually appealing), I'm talking about the pot in which it is cooked and served. The earthenware pot comes in a variety of sizes and colors, with different tribal designs etched on the surface. Nothing is like having the tagine served to you for the first time. The elegant artistry of the pot is mesmerizing as it is whisked off the surface of the bowl to reveal a rich delicacy.

Refining, Wining, and Dining

Though I am far from a true connoisseur of wine, I definitely like to call myself an enthusiast. The wine selection at Morocco's Restaurant has helped me refine my tastes for both reds and whites. The deep and dark cherry flavor of the Argentinian malbec is a favorite of mine to pair with the vegetable tagine. Every Tuesday at Morocco's Restaurant we host the Downtown Mountain View Wine Club, the perfect event for refining your tastes and sharing the flavorful experiences of wine with friends. Try something new and even bring your favorite bottle to share as the corkage fee is waived. Add to that a live music performance with no corkage fee and the deal seeker I am is happy!

The Music of Morocco's Restaurant

So what comes to mind when you think of the music of Morocco? If you're not too familiar with the culture perhaps you think of something akin to sitars, simple drum rhythms, and "exotic" sounding melodies. Something that transports you to a far off land in your mind, letting you experience the magic of the moment. At Morocco's Restaurant we have an eclectic blend of music from all different corners of the world. The music for lunch time perfectly complements the dining experience, filling the room with infectious rhythms and soulful melodies which keep you bright and energized for the day ahead. For the evening, many live performers fill the restaurant with warm and inviting sounds of jazz, blues, flamenco shows, and solo acoustic guitar!

Experiencing the Magic of Colors

Another element of a fine dining experience is undoubtedly the atmosphere of the restaurant. The cuisine is of course the main attraction, but the visual component of a dining experience is not to be underestimated. A good restaurant will give you a sensory experience that not only encompasses all of the five senses but also ensures that they are complimentary. At Morocco's Restaurant you are immediately greeted with a barrage of color as you enter. However this "barrage" is not all an assault on your eyes. Rather it is wonderful collage of oranges, blues, reds, golds, greens, and many colors in between. The visual stimulation feels unfamiliar yet at the same time magical and inviting. Much like the cuisine at Morocco's Restaurant, the decor and atmosphere will leave you eager for more.

Renewing your policies!

That time of the year has come again where your insurances are up for renewal and i am pretty ticked off how i always have to go over the shopping process over and over again to discover that whoever earned my business last year is still trying to get more than average market rates. I really do not mind people making a living, but please, be descent and do not insult the intelligence of your clients! Adding to that an agent that will be upset with rounds of "I do not have time for that" will lead to no repeat business. Sounds fair to me!
Happy dining!
Come see us for fairness and quality! I am pretty excited about our live guitar music night tonight starting 7PM! www.MoroccosRestaurant.com
